Samsung Bixby | All you need to know

Hello Bixby

Owing to the release of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+, Samsung launched an app called Bixby. Bixby is the smarter version of Google now and Siri that allows you control your phone with voice.

With Bixby, you have your phone under control. From identifying objects to accessing your favorite apps and contents, Bixby lets you interact and control your phone. Bixby gives you lot more than you can imagine and saves you the stress of operating a complicated device.

What does Bixby do?

Having Bixby is like having someone run errands for you and making things less difficult. Here are the things you can do with Bixby:

Voice Control

Just like the S-Voice, you can perform different tasks on your phone by simply telling it what you want. On the Samsung Galaxy S8, there's a dedicated button for Bixby. The Bixby button is located on the left edge of the Galaxy S8/S8+ and pressing the button gets Bixby activated.

Bixby understands your phone's apps and how to use them. For example, Bixby understands you when you say something like 'Call Tessy', 'Open Whatsapp', 'Open last photo', 'Take a selfie', etc. With Bixby, things are easy - it's a completely new way to use your Galaxy S8/S8+.

Bixby Identifies Objects

Bixby is present in your camera - it has the ability to identify images taken by your S8's camera. For example, when you take photos of a popular building or restaurant, Bixby tells you the name of the building and the location.

In your Gallery, Bixby isn't absent. Bixby makes shopping easier by identifying products and giving you more information on where you can shop for such products. Isn't that cool? Of course, it is. To activate Bixby vision, tap the vision icon in your viewfinder.

In your internet as well, Bixby gives you a deeper understanding of what you're looking at. For example, when you come across an image on the internet, Bixby tells you what Image you're looking at. Texts in other languages can also be translated using Bixby.

Bixby gives Recommendations

With a tap or swipe, you can quickly access your favorite apps and content. Bixby learns your routine and prepares your next content for you so you’ll always have the right content ready when you need it.

From your recent messages and upcoming events to your next Uber ride and daily news, Bixby pulls the most important information from different apps so you can accomplish more from a single screen.

Bixby monitors your activities such as the number of steps taken for the day, calls rejected and also gives you the weather report. All these you get, courtesy of Bixby.

Bixby Reminds

With Bixby, you don't miss out. Often times we get so busy and forget our next meeting but with Bixby, you have everything under control. Bixby reminds you of your next meeting, time and location. In other words, Bixby serves as your personal Secretary.

Not only does Bixby reminds you of your next meeting, Bixby also reminds you of anything you plan to do either on your phone or elsewhere such as a video you want to watch when you get home or a concert ticket you plan to buy.

Bixby keeps you reminded when and where you need to. Bixby is built into your favorite apps, so setting up reminders based on time and location is easy.

What you need for Bixby to run

Bixby is inbuilt and is currently on Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ only (we expect to see it in other Smartphones Samsung will launch in the future).

You need a Samsung account and internet connection (Wi-Fi or data network) to run Bixby

In Summary, Bixby makes your phone helpful – assisting in completing tasks, telling you what you’re looking at, learning your routine and remembering what you need to do. Just press the Bixby button.
